Cattle Egrets - infrequent visitors to the Beacons.

Some cattle Egrets have been seen at a local lake over the last week and as these birds are very infrequent visitors to the Brecon Beacons I tried to make an effort to see them. However, I had no luck at all until the day before yesterday. I called in on my way home from Brecon on the off chance and lo and behold there they were, three birds on a spit of land, known locally as ‘The point’.





I quickly set up and took a few shots but I could see two fishermen in a boat coming towards this spit and I knew they would spook these birds because they are very flighty.
I got ready and as I thought the birds were indeed spooked and this allowed me to get a few flight shots – sometimes you can predict how these things will unfold and you have to take advantage.
